5 weeks!!

I've got quite a bit to update about (trip to WV, Grandma Sherry's visit, Creation Museum, etc) and lots of thoughts running through my head that I would love to blog, but I am left with very little time now a days and little sleep so what time I do get free, I like to sleep instead. :) But I wanted to post a couple pictures of Ryan who is somehow, already 5 weeks old!  Time is flying!  He is getting bigger and bigger and for that we are thankful.  I've said it before and I would say it again, newborns are not my favorite.  Sure I love to snuggle with them just like anyone else, but the constant care they need is so draining and stressful for me and, especially with 3 others to worry about, I would rather care for 6 months and up when good routines are established and they are better able to play and entertain themselves. Yes, I know...I am selfish. Anyway, a few pictures of Ryan for you to enjoy until after I get some sleep!
A smiling pro now!  I still can't believe he started smiling when he was less than 2 weeks old!

taken in a low light situation...was trying to see how well my camera would do if I adjusted the settings right...not bad on the clarity side of things but definitely a bit of a funny coloring to the picture.
His lips were so squishy, I couldn't resist taking a picture of them!
I think he has a little bit of Tyler, Megan, and Morgan in him. :)

He looks absolutely huge here...his arms especially look super long!  His eyes are getting bluer and bluer every day too!

First Day of Preschool

Exactly one week ago, both Tyler and Megan started preschool.  It's Tyler's second year to do preschool and Megan's first, both their first year at Troy Christian School which, Lord willing will be the school they will one day graduate from. So far, we have been impressed with the school and the kids love it!

The night before their first day, we went to orientation.  There were a TON of people so pictures were difficult to get.  Tim and I had to split up as Tyler and Megan are with different teachers and at very different locations in the school so no pictures of Tyler.

Megan really surprised me. I figured she would be shy and clingy, as Tyler was at his preschool orientation. She definitely was not though!  We have been talking about going to preschool all summer so its been something she has really looked forward to.  She went right in to her class and immediately started playing with the toys, not shy or timid at all.
She tries so hard to please her pictures obsessed Momma. ;)
The next morning was SOOO hectic!  Our children normally sleep in till after 8.  A good week before school started, we tried to work on that but with no success. With a 20 minute drive to school and school starting at 8:50 for Tyler, we knew we'd have to get them up, at the latest, at 730. So, unfortunately, on the first day of school we had to wake them up. Its amazing how that 30 extra minutes makes for much happier kids...by lunch time, they were complete GRUMPS!

Anyway, before they were little grumps, we got good first day of school pics.

 Tyler was being goofy

His sign says "Tyler's First Day of Preschool Part 2"

I thought it was quite funny that I couldn't get a picture with both Megan and her teacher smiling at the camera...we tried 3 times. :)  Both were equally distracted by the other children in the class.
I am really excited for this school year, especially for Megan.  I have high hopes for the academic growth for her. One big downside to having 4 children close in age is the difficulty it has proven, for me anyway, to spend a lot of time teaching the basics (ABC's, numbers, colors, etc) and poor Megan doesn't know anything going in to her preschool years.  Tyler at least knew how to sing the ABC's, how to spell his name, and how to recognize the letter 'T'. Megan can't even count to 10, knows none of her letters, and when asked how to spell her name, she says 'T, Y, L, E, R' because that's what she hears Tyler say.  Needless to say, I am so excited to see her develop!  She is currently just going to go to school 2 days a week.  On Fridays, Tim and I are hoping to do more one on one time with her while Tyler is at preschool. However, if that doesn't work, we will probably add the 3rd day for her and she will go Fridays too.  We'll see!  For now, we are learning to get used to the routine of getting up earlier and we are super excited to see how both kids are going to learn and develop over this school year!
