What a week!

Well, since the triathlon, Tim and I have been traveling. We left on Sunday afternoon to surprise Tim's dad for father's day. We succeeded and surprise him we did. :) It was a lot of fun. We also were very blessed to have made all our flights. For those of you that don't know, Tim and I fly for free with US Airways because that is where Tim works. But we have to fly standby, so we only get to go somewhere if there are seats avaiable. So we were able to fly all the way out to California for free. Pretty sweet. :) We had a great time there with his parents. We got to shoot at a few squirrels and Tim even shot a rattle snake! I shot at some squirrels and stuff but I'm not very good at this whole redneck thing yet. Here are some pictures from the week.
He completely blew the head off of the snake...

being rednecks, at least I am trying to be...Tim fits the part nicely
I love him!
So yeah, we had a great time. We left Wednesday at 2:10 from Fresno, California and they actually bumped us up to first class for free! That was sweet. From Fresno we went to Las Vegas and from there we tried to get on a flight to Columbus that would have got us in at 11:00 p.m. However, God had other plans. We didn't get that flight, or the flight after that...we ended up waiting in the Las Vegas airport for almost 8 hours just trying to get on a flight. We were exhausted. We tried flying to Columbus, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, anywhere that was even remotely close or would get us to an airport that would get us to where our car was in Columbus. All of the flights were overbooked. Anywhere you wanted to go was so crowded. We had tried on a couple flights when it was coming close to 11 p.m. pacific time. Tim needed to get on a flight back because he worked today at 1:30, or was supposed to. So he was going to go on and I was going to stay and try to get on the next available flight. Thankfully, we didn't have to split up and we were able to make it on an oversold flight to Philadelphia. It was oversold by 8 tickets, but a lot of people just didn't show. From Philadelphia we were able to get on a flight to Columbus which is where are car was. We made it to our car, finally, around 9 this morning only to find that we had left the lights on...our battery was dead. We called up the safety people and they came and brought jumper cables. Well, before we had a chance to even stop the guy (keep in mind, we have been up for about 24 hours at this point) he had put the cables on the wrong way and completely blew our battery. We weren't able to charge it. It wouldn't hold the power. We had to call a friend that lives an hour and a half away to come and bring a new battery. He did, but that didn't completly fix the problem. The stupid guy that charged the car probably blew the alternator when he did it wrong. But anyway, we eventually made it home. What a long day. I have currently been up for 36 hours and my dear, dear husband will have to be up for much longer than that. He is at work right now. He ended up getting there a little late so he will have to stay late tonight. I have to say though, in the midst of all the stress and problems that happened today, God still, in small ways, showed us how much He truely does care for us. We went to McDonalds this morning for breakfast/lunch since we had to wait forever to get our car fixed. We ordered and went to pay for it with a credit card (which we always do) and their machine was broken. So, instead of figuring out what the problem was or requesting that we go to an ATM for cash, they gave us our entire meal for free. :) What a blessing. God works in some funny ways to actually use McDonald's to be a blessing. But anyways, I need to go to bed, I am rereading what I have written and it is absolutely horribly written, grammatically and stuff. And I know spelling is off. But I don't care. I'm tired. But just wanted to tell you about our week so far! Tomorrow afternoon, I am headed up to Miss Ginny Bishop's wedding in Michigan. I'll post pictures of that later! Until then...

Biking...

So we went for a bike ride today with Joel and Cynetta, Cynetta and Shannon had already gone running so they were docile and boring, Joel and I decided to go for the more exciting and energetic ride. We went off trail and bounced around a bunch of roots and rocks, had to walk over a few logs, I was the only one that fell over (once) and then we went up by the railroad tracks, which was fine, cause there was a path up there too, for about 100 yards, then it was trying to pedal through tall grass. We finally made it to a place where we could get back down on the regular trail, yay! I went first down the very (and looking back VERY) steep hill, I was doing fine, going slow, and then I got to the bottom and found out they had a drainage ditch at the bottom, my front tire decided to take a break and the rest of the bike didn't, so off I went to 'get in touch with nature' . It touched me alright, luckily my gymnastics skills (that I keep finely honed...lol) saved me from most of the scrapes, but it was still a trip. no damage to the bike thankfully, and I will heal up just like new. We had a great time...

Interview

I (Shannon) had another interview today, and I've never been more excited about a job. THis job is at the Children's Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, in the ER. (If you noticed in my profile, it says that I already work there...that's me hoping. :) ). I would have so many opportunities to learn and growa s a nurse in that unit. It's faster paced which is what I like, and its something new and different every day, which is also what I like. I felt realy good after coming out of the interview and the nurse manager seemed to think that she was going to hire me and was excited that I am interested in the shift that they are looking to fill. (3p-3a) I should find out in the next week or two she said. I know the Lord will have His will, I just hope that He allows me to go this route. :) Anyway, thats all for now.

Should I do this?

I decided to try and have a blog along with my xanga...this one can be both Tim and I's site. Until we have kids, it will be kind of a boring site, but enjoy anyway!
