So, for the longest time, I have been having issues with storage space in my kitchen for groceries. I don't really have a pantry, just a lot of cabinets and shelves...which is okay...but Tim and I like to shop at Sam's and so we usually have a lot of food sitting around. So, Tim made great use of the space beside our refrigerator and made me a little pantry! Check it out!!

Its only like 5 or 6 inches wide which is just big enough for me to store all or at least most of my cans. Its also great for macaroni boxes. :) Its on wheels so its easy to slide in and out. I have the coolest husband ever! :)

its been awhile

Well, its been awhile, so I figured we should update our blog. A lot has been going on and that is why it has not been updated...I'm not going to try to update on the past several months but if you want to go to my other blog it has been more frequently updated...it is xanga.com/shannschramm. Here is my update of frequent events...

Tim and I left on Tuesday, March 27th to go to California for a much needed vacation. Tim's birthday was on the 30th so we were able to be out there for his birthday with his family. We had so much fun. We were finally able to relax in his parents new hot tub and enjoy scenery like this...

Tim's parents live on 400 acres of this absolutely beautiful place. Spring time is by far one of the prettiest times of year there because all of the hills and mountains are covered in wildflowers. My pictures don't do it justice. It was so peaceful and so pretty. Most of our days in California were spent walking and hiking around admiring it. We did spend some time inside too though. Tim's parents are in charge of awana at their church so on Wednesday, Tim and I were left home alone for awhile. So, we decided to make some cookies. We make this same recipe all the time, I'm not sure what happened...well, I guess I do. We used pure vanilla instead of vanilla extract and so we had to double the recipe just to get rid of the vanilla flavor...this would have been fine except we ran out of flour...we tried to cook a batch anyway and this is how they turned out...

So then Tim decided to try an add some bisquick...he said "it's mostly flour anyway." I let him do it and this was our second batch...

Its hard to notice it in this picture but well, they turned out a lot like biscuits...with the crutchey outside and a mushy inside...let me give you a close up...

They also tasted kind of...weird...

So, we had fun, but we gave up on the cookies and just fed them to the garbage disposal instead. Then we went on yet another walk. this is my super hot hubby with his ghetto sun glasses. :)

Tim's aunt and uncle just recently sold their San Diego home and moved up to the ranch where Tim's parents live. They plan on building a little cabin in the next few months. So it was fun starting to see the beginning stages of that. Tim helped his family put in the septic tank. I am pretty sure I was napping during that process...:) Here is a picture of Tim's aunt's new kitty, Grace...

She's kind of scared of people but is still really cute and playful...

For Christmas, Tim and I got his dad a windsock for their runway (a grass one) so Tim spent some time putting that up. They actually have had someone land on their property...so thats cool. When Tim gets his liscense I can guarantee that at some point we will fly up there and land. :) Here's a few pictures...

So now its my time to brag... :) I went hunting for the first time in my life while out in California...and when I say hunting, I mean hidding behind trees, whispering, listening for movement in the brush, hiking up poison oak infested mountains, all while carrying "Big Bertha," a 7MM Remington Magnum. Here is a picture of me and Tim's dad hiking...

Now, I know many of you are sitting at the edge of your seats wondering what it was I was hunting for...

......

wild hogs....

yes, thats right, wild hogs...Tim's parents were out of pork...:) hehe just kidding...but anyway, yes, I did go wild hog hunting and I got one!!! I shot her one time right in the shoulder (where your supposed to hit) and killed her instantly. Here I am with my hog...

I surprised her so much that she actually had food in her mouth....

Please ignore the large knife Tim has in his hands....I won't tell you what happened next, I will just let you know that I didn't do it but here is the final picture before eating pork the next day... those who are squirmish, just scroll down fast....

After finished our hike back down the mountain I quickly showered to get all of the poison oak off me and then went back to the knitting project I had started. :)

Killer by day, knitter my night. :)

Oh, and I still got poison oak...and bad too...Its all over!!

So as I mentioned earlier, it was Tim's birthday on the 30th of March. Here is a picture of his cake...

Some of you are probably wondering why there are so many candles when Tim was only turning 24...we actually had a joint birthday party with one of Tim's best friends growing up who was also turning 24. Here they are blowing out their candles...

double spit on the cake!!

The rest of our trip was fun visiting with family and just having fun not being at work. We actually ended up staying longer than planned because we couldn't make it back on our standby flights on Saturday or Sunday...we ended up leaving Monday afternoon. Here are just some random pictures of the fun we had...

Tim's parents thought that their duck "Ducky" had died but Tim and I found her....sitting on like 15 eggs! They do have a male duck but they don't think the eggs are fertile...that would be fun if they were though...lots of little chicks running around!

Tim learned how to knit while were were out there...well, its a form of knitting...its called knifty knitting. Its online, check it out...anyway, I think its cool that I have a man who is willing to learn how to knit...Tim even made himself a washcloth for our kitchen.

I also think its cool that he can do it while sitting in a rocking chair....wearing camo pants...

Tim did manage to hurt himself while we were up there....see picture of him on 3 wheeler above....he decided to roll it...he bailed out in time to be able to watch the 3-wheeler flip down the hill but in the process messed up his knee...this is after a day of healing...

it needed stiches...but I will say that it is healing up nicely even without them...it will just leave a nasty scar...

So anyway, that was our trip to California...we had a blast and were sad to have to leave...I couldn't wait to get back home though because I figured my flowers would have bloomed...and some of them did! Here's a picture of them...

and they smell so good! My tulips also were doing really well until the freezing weather came back...now they are all kind of droopy... :( Here is a picture of my little flower garden...

Currently, I just set up a rat trap to try and keep the squirrels away...we'll see if this works....Anyway, there's my update...hope you enjoyed it!! :)
