Tyler's 2 month check-up

Thursday was Tyler's two month check-up. (Although, he was actually 2 months and 10 days old) I couldn't hardly wait for this appointment because it had been over a month since he was weighed and measured and I knew he had grown a lot! The nurse had me lay him down on the table covered with paper and she stretched his long little legs out, put her little pencil mark, and then put a mark by his head and then measured between the two after I picked him up. "Lets see, 24 1/4 inches..." the nurse went to go write it down in his chart and she said "wow...thats a lot of growth....no, thats REALLY a lot of growth...lets measure him again." Tim and I just looked at eachother and smiled because we knew she was right. We knew we were going to have a tall kid! So, she measured him again and dropped his weight down a whopping 1/8 inch. So, he was 24 1/8 inch long and weighed 12lb 11oz. So, since birth he has gained almost 4 inches and 6 pounds! I think thats pretty good! He also had to get his first shots...4 of them to be exact! His poor little chubby thighs!

I had a feeling I was going to cry but really I only PRODUCED a couple tears that didn't even fall down my face. I was so proud of myself. It really was hard to watch. I feel like its my job to protect him from harm and things that hurt him and I just had to watch that mean ol' nurse poke him! He, of course, cried, but calmed right down. He needed a little extra pampering that day but for the most part, was his normal happy, smily self. Most of the day he spent doing this...

He did spend some time doing this...(these pictures are also for those of you who think he never cries )

So pitiful!

No fears, here's my smily boy, double chin and all!

4th of July 2009

Yes, this is a bit late, but Happy Independence Day Everyone! We had a great day spending time with our church family for the 1st Annual 4th of July Church Picnic. There was lots of food, 3-legged racing, water ballon tossing, corn holing, Frisbee throwing, tarp with baby soap gaming (pictures to explain later), and just all around fun. The weather was a little rainy and cool by the end of the night (ended up wearing jeans and a sweatshirt to fireworks!) but it was an overall GREAT day. Here's some pictures of our fun.
Tim manning the grill

Tyler spent most of his time in people's arms but started out in his stroller, just hanging out :)

Three legged race!

They fell :)

No pictures of Tim and I doing this, but we did do it! Brought back memories of our Awana days.

This is the tarp game...basically a tarp covered with baby soap, a little water, and a ball in the middle. Two teams were on either side that raced to the middle to try to get the ball back to their side. Provided for a lot of laughs :)

Horray for Independence Day!!

We've heard a lot about Tipp City's fireworks that they were "the best around" but we had never actually made it to them because we are always out of town. We finally were able to go this year and I wasn't that impressed until the end...and then WOW. It really was pretty awesome and made me smile like a little kid.
This was a cool one, not part of the finale, that looked like a weeping willow tree...one of my personal favorite trees.

Tim took like 20 pictures of the finale...most of which look like this one. So cool!!

This is what Tyler did the whole time

Much better than crying or hating the noise like what I thought he would do. Maybe next year he will actually watch them...we'll see

Tyler's Perfected Smile

It seems like just over the past few days, Tyler has perfected his little smile and now smiles almost on command. I love it!! Makes my heart melt every time. Here's a few pictures and even a little video of his precious smile. Ignore my annoying voice in the video.
