Eating for Two

On September 8, 2008, Tim and I found out that we were expecting! (Which is why this picture shows a very tear-stained face. :) )The test was so barely positive I almost didn't want to believe it. I actually made Tim look at it first.

However, on September 15th, I had my first doctor's appointment and although according to my dates I should have been 6 weeks, they said that the ultrasound only looked like 4 weeks...there was no visible heart beat, the baby was too small to even measure and our fears were that this was going to turn in to the same thing that happened in February. Blood work was ordered and on Wednesday the 17th we found out that according to the blood work, I had a viable pregnancy that was just earlier than we thought...PRAISE THE LORD!! I had another ultrasound the very next week in which we were able to see the heart beat! But unfortunately, the baby was so small they again, couldn't measure it to even see how far along I was. So, I got another ultrasound on October 9th and actually got to take home some pictures of our little booger!
This is at 8 weeks. Just a little peanut!
Then, at my last appointment last Thursday, they couldn't find the heart beat with the dopler which, honestly, I wasn't one bit concerned. I have been puking daily and pretty much constantly nauseated. I knew the baby was fine, but we got another ultrasound, for free!
It was so amazing to see the little face and arms and fingers of this precious gift that the the Lord has given to Tim and I. The baby grew so much from 8 weeks to 12 weeks! Its so unbelievable. Whats even more amazing is that I have ZERO control over how much it grows and thrives in my womb but I know the One who has TOTAL control over ALL things and its His hand of protection that has gotten us this far. I wish the Lord could have changed my heart another way, but I am truly thankful for the lessons that losing a child taught me. Not that I have completely learned the lessons or obtained some sort of spiritual success, but I have learned a lot in the past several months about total dependance on the Lord's perfect timing and being content with wherever He has me NOW.
We waited to make our announcement after the first trimester was over as this is the time when most miscarriges occur. But like I said, I have been so sick that there really hasn't been a doubt in my mind that there was anything wrong. Just think, now you don't have as long to wait! :) We are offically due May 21st but again, thats completely up to the Lord. We aren't going to find out what we are having so you will have to be patient like us! :) I have 2 great-grandmothers wishing for girls, 2 grandmothers wishing for boys, and honestly, Tim and I don't care. :) But I have had at least 2 "gender dreams" for boys. So, Boys 4, Girls 2...whats your vote?

Its been fun telling people our news. It was offically anounced in church this morning and people at work are starting to hear the rumors. :) So far my favorite was telling my family. My sister Stephanie had just had a baby a week prior to us telling them and so my whole family, minus one brother-in-law were in Florida visiting with them when my grandmother started getting us all together for group pictures. Tim and I had already talked about how we wanted to tell them so my grandmother was only making it easier for us, without even knowing! We took a couple group pictures and then Tim got our camera and said, "alright, on the count of three, one, two.." and then I said "I'm pregnant!" Tim was able to capture the event with a couple pictures. It was priceless! :)

We are excited!! :D

Tim's weekend project

So, last Friday afternoon, Tim and I made a kind of quick decision to tear down a closet in our living room. We knew this was something we wanted to do since we first moved in but didn't know when would be the right time..so we decided that now was as good as ever and Tim got to work. I didn't realize it was going to be such a long and messy job!! Other than a few times of me helping hold things, Tim did it all on his own and even though it is not completely finished yet, I am very excited and LOVE the outcome. Our living room seems like it has doubled in size just by taking out a 50 some inch closet! Tim also built a new closet (which is the part that is not done yet). He still has to paint the drywall and hang one extra little piece. The next wall to go will be the one separating the kitchen and the living room. Maybe next week. Here's a few pictures.

Halfway done with demolition...see how messy?!

Hard at work building the new closet...Tim also has to do some rewiring of light switches and stuff, also for another day. :)

We really like the outcome and I guess the pictures don't really show the change in the amount of space, but if you have spent much time in our house, you will notice a HUGE difference when you come over. After we knock out the kitchen wall, which is behind the blue couch in the last picture, we plan on putting in laminate flooring, which I think will also make things look really nice. I am looking forward to it and I love having my own home to be able to make changes like this!
