We had Tyler's 6 month check up on Tuesday morning. Much to our surprise, *sarcasm noted* Tyler measured in at 28 1/2 inches which puts him in the 97th percentile for height. He also was 16lb 12 oz which was a lot lighter than what I had expected and puts him only in the 30-40th percentile for weight. We knew he would be tall and skinny though. And we love it!! He is just perfect for us and we love him more and more each day. The biggest problem with him is that we feel like he is such a good baby that our next child will have a lot to live up to! He is now eating rice and oatmeal cereal, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, pears, prunes (he hates them), bananas and is starting on apples today. I've enjoyed being able to make all of these, except for the peas and prunes (no thank you!) and enjoying the fact that we are saving some money!! We even home grew the green beans and I made them over the summer. He is almost sitting up on his own and rolls over effortlessly from back to front but somehow has lost the ability to roll over from his front to his back and instead just lays there frustrated and fussing until one of us sees him and rolls him back over. He can transfer objects from one hand to the other. He knows Tim and I's voices. He is starting to chew on things more and more and is definitely drooling. He loves to be tickled and his giggle is just contagious. He seems to love toys that have strings or ribbons and especially loves the strings on my sweatshirts. Much to our dismay, he has recently developed the desire to scream at high pitched decibels when we are in public and feels like he needs to compete with the noise. He actually does it at home too when we have the radio on. Not sure what we are going to do on our upcoming plane trip to California... Tyler also gives "hugs" and definitely likes to cuddle. He has learned to embrace his "Animal Sounds" book and enjoys reading time at night, especially with Daddy. He is still swaddled at night (yes, I know) and is starting to develop mixed feelings about it. Daddy and I aren't sure whether we want to give it up yet because it helps with how much he wakes up at night needing his pacifier. He is on what we think is the perfect schedule. He eats at 9, 1, 5, and 9 and then goes to bed not to be heard from again until about 8:30. (Occasionally waking up for that pacifier) We are truly blessed and are excited to see Tyler continue to grow and it is our prayer that he would come to know the Lord as his Savior at a young age and live his life to please Him.

Tyler loves sitting here in his bumbo watching Widget...I think she might like it too, although, she would never tell you that. :)

The other day, I was on the computer and turned around to check on what Tyler was doing and this is how I found him...

He had one of his toys on his head and was just looking around...I was afraid to move so I just grabbed the camera where I was and got the shot...so, sorry, no face

Anyway, so there is Tyler's 6 months stats for ya. He is getting so big so fast!! I am trying to cherish each moment with him as I know I will never get them back. I hope you are enjoying watching him grow up as much as we are!

Animal Sounds Book

Last night, I read Tyler this book called "Animal Sounds" for the first time. He did fine until the crow sound then h e started crying...by the time we got to sheep he was terrified! I thought it was funny...sad too of course, but I told Tim about it and we just had to see if he was going to do it again with Tim. He made it all the way until the sheep this time but as you can see, really seemed to struggle with the animal sounds book. You can't see it in the video but he puts his lower lip out and just starts pouting away. I didn't want to move to get a better video because I didn't want to miss the moment! :) Maybe we'll capture more of his face tomorrow night when we do it again. :) hehe, I know, we are mean parents.

Tim and I sought out together to get some good pictures of Tyler. We left our house around 2 in the afternoon with the mission of not returning until we got some good pictures...we got back at 4:30. That was only because we stopped at two different neighbor's houses to chat. Getting good pictures actually only took 10-15 minutes with both of us getting Tyler's attention. Here's what we captured...

Just lounging out...watching the leaves fall...and getting sleepy. This was one of the last pictures we took as the happiness ended shortly thereafter

These weren't taken on the same day, but here are the family pictures we got this fall. We tried getting all dressed up to take really nice ones but Tyler really wasn't cooperating. This was the best we got.

I love my precious little family and can't wait to see what else God has in store for our family this upcoming year!

Poor Tyler lives with a mom obsessed with taking lots of pictures and probably even more obsessed with putting cute clothes on him...I'm pretty sure he will hate me later in life for these ones.

Hayride and Trunk or Treat

Our church's annual hayride was a couple weeks ago and this was Tyler's first time to go. We didn't ride on the wagon because it was a little too cold, but we tried to get a few pictures in the hay to say we did. Obviously, as is evidenced by the pictures below, he wasn't impressed...he WOULD NOT smile or even look at me. And really, just spent more time crying. He tends to be a little dramatic. Pretty sure he gets that from his father...

My favorite part is the gathering around the fireplace and the food anyway.

Tyler was so snugly in his little hoodie!

Tyler's first trunk or treat at church was this past Wednesday (a week ago already) and he dressed up as "squirt" from Finding Nemo. I just thought it was the cutest little outfit and he was definitely the cutest little turtle that you have ever seen!!

Benjamin was a cute little dalmatian and his older brother Noah was a fireman...didn't get any of the two of them, but here is Tyler and Benjamin together

All that candy just tuckered Tyler right out...

We thought about using this costume from Cynetta...it is SO cute! A little skunk outfit that says "little stinker" on the rump. But I wanted him to have a costume that was his for his first Halloween, I know, silly, but I am weird about stuff like that. So, we stuck with squirt.

But as you can see from my little drama king, he didn't want to be a skunk anyway

Because I am WAY too tired to do much more, here is an update on Tyler...in pictures. There are a lot!! Enjoy!!

"Mowing" the grass with Daddy for hopefully the last time of the season!
We TRIED to do a photoshoot last Saturday but it was WAY too cold and so Tyler only lasted about 5 minutes...here are the few pictures I took...we will try again. I am DETERMINED to get at least 1 good fall picture to use for Tyler's 6 month picture Tyler's whistle face"Mommy, are we done?! ITS FREEZING out here!!"actually, it really was pretty chilly...it was in the mid to lower 40's that daystill smiles for me though! :)Little ADD each time the wind blew the leaves...His little nose turns red just like Mommy's. :)His latest thing, finding his toes :)And his new face which is usually accompanied by the "mmmm" sound and some spit :)

My sister Joanna, her husband, and my nephew Andrew came for a surprise visit last Saturday. They were driving through and needed a break in the traveling. So, they stopped for a couple hours. It was a short, but sweet visit! Andrew and Tyler were so fun together. I wish they could grow up closer together but alas this will just have to do for now. Here's some pictures of their fun.

On October 1st, we started Tyler on rice cereal. I really didn't want to start anything until 6 months, but when he started eating 10 oz before bed and even that was only lasting 8-9 hours, I knew it was probably time. Lets just say, I sure wish he could have waited!! He doesn't like it which makes for a VERY unenjoyable 20-30 minutes that it takes to get 1 tablespoon down him. I know we are only on day 3 now but I sure hope it gets better soon!! Here's a few pictures of the occasion, which falsely give the viewer the idea that he liked it...watch the video below to understand how he really feels :) Sorry its long. I didn't feel like editing it!

Grandpa and Grandma Schramm's visit

Tim's parents came out for a week...and as you can see from the pictures, I think they loved every minute of it!! Of course, Tim and I didn't take very many pictures, we always seem to forget the important stuff, so a few of these are the ones Tim's parents took.

Do you think Sherry could be smiling any bigger? Thats one proud Grandma!

Grandpa's FIRST time ever meeting Tyler. I think they got along just fine

When Tim's parents first got there, I had kept Tyler up so they could see him. But they got in at almost 11...WAY past Tyler's bed time. He was so funny!

Tim's parents spoiled us BIG time and took us shopping for Tyler. Here he is standing like a big boy in one of his new outfits, including the shoes!

While Tim's parents were here, we also went down to the Creation Museum just south of Cincinnati. Along with all the clothes, Tim's parents got us a Baby Bjorn carrier...TOTALLY unexpected gift. I had a chance to use it while at the Creation Museum.

And of course, Tyler had to try out the triceratops!

Not sure who had more fun with this!!

All in all, we had a great time with Tim's folks and are so thankful for all that they did for us while they were out here! They mowed our grass while we were at work, took care of Tyler, helped us cut down some trees, plus spoiled us by taking us shopping and out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Olive Garden. Thank you!!! Can't wait to see you in November!

Tipp City's Mum Festival

Last Saturday was Tipp City's (the town just north of where Tim and I currently live) annual Mum Festival. It was a new experience for us as we have never been able to participate in it before, but our church does a float every year and hands out candy during the parade. Tim's parents were also able to be here for that so that was neat. Here's some pictures of the parade.

We saw these guys practicing...they were amazing!!

The start of our crew...the walkers handing out candy. Tipp City has a rule that you can't throw candy (what kind of parade is that?!) so we bag ours and hand it out.

Our float...3rd overall

Tyler and I were "riders." The side of the float read "As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you." So I was on there with Tyler and Lori was on there with her 3 boys, the youngest who was only 4 days old there! Tyler fell asleep about 2 minutes into it :)

Tyler brings such joy to Tim and I's life. He is full of smiles and rarely cries other than being hungry. He has perfected rolling over from front to back and is now working on perfecting back to front! He loves to "stand" with assistance and being tickled by Daddy's goatee on his belly. But Mommy knows that his number one tickle spot is his little thighs!! He DOES have hair but its coming in bleach blonde (not a surprise when both of his parents were the same way!) He chews on his fingers and hands CONSTANTLY and much to mom's dismay is beginning to enter the slobbering fase. :/ His big blue eyes could tell a story and he is just overall the cutest baby in the world. :) But I'm just his mom. :)

This is the most impractical hat I have ever seen, but it was just too funny not to put on him.

And, he doesn't care one bit apparently!

I always thought that most babies move themselves backwards by kicking their feet...Tyler, as is evidenced by the track in the rug, goes forwards. :) And, I love how he left the hat behind

Probably my favorite hat, thanks to Cynetta for letting me borrow it. I know he looks silly with it sideways, but really, thats the way it stays on best! ;)

Our friends Tim and Lori added a 3rd boy to their family on September 22. Elijah Kenneth, weighing 7lb 5oz and 20 inches long.

I would say after just hours post delivery, Lori looks a little too good here!! :)

I CAN NOT believe that Tyler was actually over a pound smaller than Elijah when I took him home from the hospital. I've been told before but I now know it all too well, that they do grow up way too fast. :(

Cynetta and I went shopping about a week ago and we found some sweet deals! I got Tyler some clothes for next spring from stores like Gap, Gymboree, and JCPenny and ended up getting over $200 worth for $48. :) Can't beat that!!! :) I love the overalls there in the middle from Gymboree that say "silly" on them with a monkey. A couple of the shirts will be good for now too, so thats good. He was needing some clothes!

Daniel's First Birthday

I've been a little behind on blogging lately (sorry!) but these pictures are from Daniel's (my nephew) first birthday party. I can't believe its been a year already! I found out I was pregnant just 3 days before he was born. This was such an answer to prayer because my sister was due about the same time I would have been due with our first baby. So being pregnant helped to distract me from what could have been. Anyway, I couldn't believe how one little haircut changed Daniel from a baby to a little boy! He was more than adorable and had a fun time on his big day. :)

Tyler 4 month update

Tyler had his 4 month check up today. He weighed in at 15lb 1 oz which puts him in the 50th percentile for weight, and measured 26 1/4 inches long putting him at the 90th percentile for height. :) Long and lean just like his Daddy...and how his momma used to be! :) The doctor gave him a clean bill of health, said he was "strong" and "doing really well" and then gave him 4 more shots. :( It is so hard to hear him crying from that! Tim doesn't hear a difference in his cry, but I sure do. He never cries like he does for shots, thank goodness! It doesn't seem to bother him though, other than the initial poke. He is still just as happy as ever!

Baby Einstein and Tyler's swaddle blanket

I don't have any of the videos yet but I think Baby Einstein is a great little video series for babies. I found quite a few of the clips on youtube and so one night, I put Tyler's bumbo on the computer chair and he sat there and watched it pretty intently! I was pretty impressed!

This is Tyler in his bumbo with his new play tray. I really like the tray because it helps him to have the toys up to his level since he is still learning how to pick them up on his own. It will also make the perfect little travel high chair!

We still swaddle Tyler at night because otherwise, he pulls his pacifier out and then cries until I get up, walk down the hallway, and put it back in. Sometimes I don't hear him until he is really mad which wakes him up too much and then falling back to sleep is not as easy. So, even though Tim calls it Tyler's straight jacket, we still use it! :) Doesn't he look so peaceful and comfortable here?

Here's a little video clip of Tyler being "untied" from his swaddle blanket and doing a BIG stretch :)

And, a futile attempt at trying to get Tyler and I's picture together. I will say though that his eye color and mine are almost exact in this picture when I thought they were more like Tim's. Maybe its just the lighting.

I take a lot of pictures of Tyler...but you can't really take too many right? :) Anyway, yesterday after church, Tyler and I both put on our sweats (it was only in the 60s in August!) and took almost a 2 1/2 hour nap. Both of us slept without interruptions, it was great! Here he is in his little hoodie. :)

This was before church in his cute little dress shirt and sweater vest. :) This boy sleeps a lot!

Tyler loves his bath time. I've been trying to let him do a little "swimming" in the tub where I actually let him float with his ears under that way he can start getting used to it. I want this boy to love the water!

He loves this part too when I let him kick around on his changing table. What little boy doesn't boys love being naked! :)

Products of our first garden!

Tim and I had our very first garden this summer. I have never done any of this type of gardening in my entire life but Tim had and so we planted a small, but perfect little garden. I didn't take any pictures of the actual garden but here are some pictures of what we got!

This is what we got EVERY week...LOTS of cucumbers! We have pickles out our ears!

I was most excited about the green beans as I grew up on home grown and home canned green beans. We had some bug issues during the middle of the summer, but now we are back to getting 5-7 pints a week...not bad I don't think!

A lot of our corn ended up being raccoon food, but apparently they thought this one was too small to even bother. We went ahead and picked it and it was the most perfect little corn on the cob ever! It was by far the best tasting sween corn I have tasted all year. All that flavor packed in to one little ear! :)

Tyler and I headed outside one day to have a little fun. I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of him outside this summer at all! I don't think he particularly liked it, actually. He kept closing his eyes. :) We were in the shade! Anyway, enjoy the pictures of our little boy!
