Megan JoLynn ~18 months~

Our beautiful Miss Megan JoLynn turned 18 months in January.  She is 32.5 inches tall (75th percentile) and weighs 23lb 12 oz (45th percentile) and has an 18.5 in head (not sure where that is on the percentiles).  She hasn't gained hardly any weight since her 15 month check up (7 oz) but grew 1.25 inches.  The doctor said we will have to watch her weight since she technically had lost 2 pounds since a visit she had between her 15 and 18 month check ups but I know how active she is and I also know what Tim and I were both like as kids and am not one bit concerned. :)  The doctor also wants us to get tubes for her ears since she is already on two ear infections for the year and he confirmed my fears that her hearing may be affecting her speech development. :(  As of right now though, we are passing on the tubes and trusting that the minor speech issues we may face will pale in comparison to a lifetime of potential side effects from the tubes.  There is a video below that will show a little of Megan's speech.  She "talks" all the time and is saying lots of new words but none of it is very clear.  I know every kid is different but since I only have Tyler to compare to (who was talking in clear perfect sentences by 18 months) it makes me concerned that she is not hearing the words correctly.  We know that she can hear.  She has had several hearing tests which she passes each time.  She follows commands when we tell her to do something, but she also ALWAYS has fluid behind her eardrums at every visit to the doctor which means she probably hears like someone would hear underwater all the time.  Anyway, I am probably overreacting but like I said, I only have one kid to compare her to. :)
Megan constantly makes us laugh at her spunky little personality.  She loves to make others laugh and will repeatedly do something if it has made you laugh.  She mimics EVERYTHING Tyler does and surprises us with all she can do.  She has the CUTEST little run and dances and prances just about everywhere she goes.  She is stubborn and strong willed, but we see those play out in positive ways too when she is playing with a puzzle or sorting type of toy and can't get it just right the first time.  She will continue to try again and again until she gets it right or will simply say "help." If only Tyler could learn a lesson or two from her in that respect! :)  She loves her food and her play kitchen.  Her favorite stuffed animal is a new one she got from her cousin Andrew for Christmas, a white polar bear. She loves being rocked to sleep and her favorite song (which she can sing parts of...SOO SWEET!!) is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  Her favorite word is "NO," favorite food is hotdogs, and her favoritest person in the whole word is her bubby.  She would follow him to the moon and back, maybe even holding his hand along the way.  Where he is, there she will be, just one step behind.  She is sweet, spunky, rotten, CUTE, funny, life of the party, gives the sweetest kisses and is just plain perfect for us!  What an amazing gift God gave us with her and oh how He has used her to bring about so much change in me!  I am so blessed to be called her "Ma Ma" and am anticipating God to use her in a wonderful way.  Enjoy some of Megan's 18 month pictures below.  There are more on my facebook photography page if you want to look at them. :)  Enjoy!

Have I mentioned enough times that I love that dress? :-) LOL . . . Although I think, for Megan, the spunky look of the skirt and tights is more her style. :-) Too cute!

Don't be discouraged about Megan's speech just yet! She is still on track for her age, and remember that Tyler did a lot of speaking FOR Megan before she started talking. It happens to a lot of kids with older siblings. Can't believe how much she has grown since I saw her last! So sweet!
